Training for Luhansk, Donetsk and Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Offices

In the first half of August 2024, LingvaLexa experts conducted comprehensive OSINT training in the Luhansk (August 6-7), Donetsk (August 8-9), and Mykolaiv (August 12-13) regional prosecutor's offices, which included multi-day training sessions and cooperation in investigations.

The training was aimed at familiarizing the participants with the principles of application and legal framework of the russian “СОРМ” system (System of Technical Means for Ensuring the Functions of Operational Investigative Measures). This system is one of the main tools for conducting cyber operations used by russia in its war against Ukraine. The participants took a closer look at how СОРМ works and how its use affects Ukraine's information security.

Particular attention was paid to case analysis, in particular, establishing personal data and searching for photographs of individuals in open sources. Prosecutors were trained to establish the exact geolocation and time from a photo or video, which is extremely important in the process of proving evidence during investigations.

One of the key issues discussed during the training was the first global cyber war between russia and Ukraine and its implications for international security. LingvaLexa experts spoke in detail about the tactics used by the enemy and how to protect yourself from cyberattacks.

At the end of the training, the participants discussed information security measures and security settings in messengers. They also reviewed methods of safe use of the GetContact application and deletion of personal data from this resource. The practical part of the training included tasks to save information from open sources and use a visualizer to present the results of the investigation.

The trainings by LingvaLexa provided the participants not only with new knowledge but also with practical skills necessary for effective work in the modern information warfare. Prosecutors from the three prosecutor's offices received important tools to protect Ukraine's interests in the legal field.
