Research “Music That Kills. How To Hold Artists Accountable For War Propaganda”
Today, as many Russian artists increasingly use their work to propagate war, the issue of their accountability becomes more relevant than ever. The research "Music That Kills. How to Hold Artists Accountable for War Propaganda" explores the socio-psychological impact of music as a propaganda tool and the mechanisms through which responsibility for spreading calls for violence and hatred through musical art can be ensured.
Our research also clarifies the distinction between the right to freedom of speech and speech crimes, emphasizing the need to adhere to freedom of speech standards in criminal proceedings.
This material highlights the results of the joint efforts of LingvaLexa, the Mitrax Attorneys at Law, and the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office with the aim of ensuring the protection of human rights and democratic values by holding individuals accountable and preventing crimes related to propaganda. We are also deeply grateful to the International Renaissance Foundation for supporting this project.
